http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 v England 2011: Ashley Giles sees no problem in England’s split-captaincy approach – Cricket News Update
Former English spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashley-Fraser-Giles-c46314, is not ready to accept that England’s recently-adopted strategy of appointing three different skippers for each version of game may create problems for the side during the crucial upcoming series against India.
While England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) recently named Alastair Cook and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 as captains of 50-over and Twenty20 sides respectively, Strauss maintained his position as the Test skipper.
Strauss led the side to an emphatic Test series victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 while Cook guided the Poms to clinch a 3-2 triumph in the ODI series.
With the Test series against India around the corner, Strauss is once again all set to take over the charge.
The nonstop change in skippers is being considered as an issue that can generate crisis for the side in the coming days since no skipper will able to settle-down with the crew.
However, Giles, who is currently shouldering his responsibility as national selector, sees no problem with Strauss coming back to lead the side while Cook playing under his command.
Citing both cricketers as valuable assets for the side, he claimed nothing will affect the team’s winning combination since Cook and Strauss have excellent understanding between each other.
"I think it will be fine. They both get on very well, they open the batting together and are both strong characters. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alastair-Nathan-Cook-c42852 I'm sure will have one eye eventually on doing the job in the Test cricket, but for now I'm sure he's very aware that Andrew
Strauss is the man in possession. Together they should form a pretty formidable team," said Giles, who served the English side in 54 Tests and 62 One-Dayers.
Meanwhile, the classy middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 over the years and cited Cook and the Test captain as a great opening combination, which can do wonders for the country in
the near future.
"Straussy has been a fantastic leader for us now for a very long time. He and Cooky work very closely together – they're good friends off the pitch too, and an opening partnership as well," shared Bell.
