http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s Test skipper, Andrew Strauss, is confident that the lanky pacer, Chris Tremlett will be fit for the crucial Trent Bridge Test as he has been recovering quickly.
Tremlett picked up a hamstring injury during the first Test at Lord’s. Following his injury that remained a cause of trouble for Tremlett on the fourth and fifth day of the historic 2000th Test, he skipped the training sessions ahead of Trent
Bridge match, starting from Friday, July 29, 2011.
Although, the decision about Tremlett's inclusion in the final playing XI will be made after monitoring his fitness level at the eleventh hour, Strauss is hopeful that the 6-feet 7-inch pacer will recover from stiff back before the start of play.
"I think he's fine, obviously he's had a bit of a niggle with his hamstring. He's just getting a massage and will be coming out for a bit of a bowl later. At the moment we expect him to be fit for tomorrow but obviously like all these things we'll see in
the morning. We're confident he should be okay,” said Strauss.
Before the start of clash, the legendary Aussie leg-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 led
the show in the first Test, the gangly pacer displayed excellent performance, grabbing four wickets in the game.
Although, the English side has http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711 as a possible replacement for the Hampshire-born fast bowler, Strauss is not ready to think about substitute until the confirmation about Tremlett’s unavailability for the selection.
"You've always got to weigh these things in, it's a short turn-around between Test matches but we're not going to pick someone in the side unless we're sure he is 100 per cent fit and able to get through the full five days" added the classy English opener.
When asked about India’s chances to bounce back in the series, Strauss reiterated to extend the winning momentum to the next encounter and not let the Indians to come back into the series.
