India v England 2011: England strong enough to claim long-term supremacy in Test cricket, believes http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Paul-Vaughan-c76145 – Cricket News Update
Former England skipper, Michael Vaughan, has expected Englishmen to keep their supremacy in the world of Test cricket for many years to come.
Vaughan’s comments came after England’s impressive performance in the first three Tests of the ongoing crucial series against India. The home side notched the honoured top slot in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test rankings, crushing the Men in Blue by an enormous margin of an
innings and 242 runs in the Edgbaston clash which came to an end on Saturday, August 13, 2011.
It was the first time after 32 years that England became the No. 1 side in Test standings. Vaughan believes that the present English crew has the potential and temperament to assert supremacy for a longer period of time, saying that the Poms just need to
be on their toes in order to remain consistently at the top of the chart.
"I really think this side are going to dominate Test cricket for a period because of their strength in depth, fitness levels, determination and the real hunger they display. It is not just this 11, the depth of the 24 or 25 players England have to choose
from is fantastic - there is some great talent out there," said Vaughan who led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 to historic Ashes victory in 2005.
After losing the third Test, the World Champions have slipped down to the second spot in the standings. Since, the tourists have wasted their chance to level the series, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s only aim in the ongoing competition is to win the next Test, as a 4-0 whitewash
will push them to the third position.
Although, Vaughan rated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 and men, he clarified that the Proteas lack depth that the English side has in the bowling department.
"In http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 had that real depth in their squad," added the former skipper.
