England’s Test skipper, Andrew Strauss, has made it clear that he has no technical flaws in his batting against left-arm seamers.
Strauss struggled for form in the recent Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Uda-Walawwe-Mahim-Bandaralage-Chanaka-Asanka-Welegedara-c94538, twice in the Lord’s Test.
The English Test skipper has a poor record against left-arm seamers as five of his six dismissals in the last year’s Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675.
Strauss’ trouble against left-arm bowlers might emerge as an matter of concern for the English side in the crucial upcoming four-match series against India since India’s bowling attack will be headed by the veteran left-arm fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379.
However, Strauss feels that there is nothing to worry about since he has no issues with his batting technique.
"I`ve looked at it (technique against left-arm seam) but I don`t think there is anything massively wrong. You can put yourself into a corner on these things. You have to be clear in your mind that is the right recipe to score runs," said Strauss.
The high voltage series will commence on July 21, 2011, when the Englishmen take on the Men in Blue, in the first Test at Lord’s.
Along with the English One-Day captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alastair-Nathan-Cook-c42852, Strauss will be the vital player for the home side at the top-order. The cricket pundits are citing the Cook-Strauss pair as crucial for England, since both left-handers have a lot of International experience
under their belt.
Responding to the question about the time when Cook will take over the charge as his successor in Test cricket, Strauss hesitated to give a clear reply, saying, "The simple answer is I don`t know (if that will be the case). I`ve seen a few of the lads over
the last couple of weeks and it didn`t feel particularly different but we never know how things will work out. You can`t be sure and it would be arrogant for me to assume it will be exactly as it were."
