India v England 2011: Pragyan Ojha aims to play big role after named as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453’s replacement – Cricket News Update
After earning a call for the ongoing England tour, the left-arm spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PP-Ojha-c2198, has aimed to play a big role in his team’s triumph if he is given a chance in the remaining two Tests.
Ojha was brought into the squad as a replacement for the off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, who was ruled out of the competition due to an abdominal strain.
Enormously delighted over his return, the jubilant spinner cited the ongoing clash as a great opportunity for him to do well and cement his place in the Indian side.
“I was emotional when I got a call from the Board that I should fly out to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 to join the Indian team,” said Ojha who will join the Men in Blue before the decisive Edgbaston Test, scheduled from August 10 to August 14, 2011.
After playing his last Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in 2010, the Orissa-born spinner remained in the wilderness until his fabulous show with the ball in the fourth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).
Representing Deccan Charges, Ojha claimed 10 wickets, which were good enough for the selectors to pick him for the recent West Indies tour. He, however, was not given a single game to play against the Caribbean Kings.
Ojha expressed disappointment over being ignored earlier for the tour to England but at the same time, he made clear that his confidence has boosted up after getting back into the side.
“I was disappointed when I did not play a single match in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and then when I was sidelined for the England tour. But I was always confident that I would be called back by the team. I’m looking forward to play a big role in the team,” shared the
24-year-old left-arm spinner who has served http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in 11 Tests, grabbing 42 wickets.
Talking about the suitability of his orthodox spin bowling on English pitches, Ojha elucidated that he has a handsome experience of English conditions since he has played a lot of cricket during his stint for Slaithwaite Cricket Club in 2007.
