India v England 2011: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 likely to miss 1st Test
The blazing Indian opener, Virender Sehwag, is likely to miss the first Test of the upcoming four-match series against England, starting from July 21, 2011.
India will start the tour with a warm-up match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 on July 15, 2011 and the Indian squad is expected to be announced on Saturday, July 2, 2011.
Sehwag, who is the only Indian to score a triple-century in the history of Test cricket, was unavailable for the ongoing Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 due to a shoulder injury.
Recently, the Delhi batsman went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils, in the midst of the fourth season of the lucrative Twenty20 league.
Earlier, the blistering opener aimed to make a comeback in time for the England tour but things are not going Sehwag’s way, since he has not yet completely recovered from the injury.
Although, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, Sehwag’s omission will be a huge blow for the Men in Blue.
A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source confirmed the possibility of Sehwag being ruled out of the first Test, saying that the 32-year-old opener might not be able to regain his fitness in time.
"He is yet to get back the desired strength in his shoulders. We have no information as of now on the status of Sehwag's injury. We will only get to know once we are in Chennai. We have heard that Gautam and Zaheer are fit", said a national selector on the
condition of anonymity.
Commenting on the replacement for Sehwag in case of his exclusion, the selector shared, "These two (Vijay and Mukund) are the best available replacements for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HA-Varaiya-c1520 and Gauti. We don't have too many options in opening. Only Parthiv can be another option".
While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737 is likely to be overlooked for the crucial tour.
