India slapped 300 runs in reply to England’s tally of 298 to win the third-match of the five-match one-day series by taking a 3-0 lead after beating the Poms by five wickets on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh,
India.
After winning the toss, England who needed to win the game to save the series chose to bat first in a bid to put a staggering total on the board for the hosts to chase.
However, India drew first blood in the fourth over when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 right in front of stumps. The left-hand batsman walked back to the pavilion after scoring only three runs off ten deliveries.
At this point in time, England had mustered only eight runs on the board.

The two batsmen smashed 101 runs in the third-wicket partnership and helped the side post 154 runs on the board before Petersen was given out on a leg-before wicket decision off the bowling of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RA-Jadeja-c2238.
Pietersen played a commendable innings of 64 runs off 61 deliveries before returning back to the pavilion.
England’s mild-mannered middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373 then came out to provide support to Trott who was batting superbly well at the other end.
Bopara, however, could only add 24 runs in the English total before having his stumps readjusted by India’s ace bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Kumar-c2143 in the 39th over.
By this time, England had managed to post 195 runs on the board.
The arrival of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 then changed the face of the game as he played a blitz of an innings on just 43 deliveries where he smashed 70 runs.
The batsman crafted a handy partnership with Trott (98*) as the duo posted 103 runs in their unbeaten partnership.
With a mammoth total to chase, India had their work cut out for them as they needed to bat with resolve against a dangerous bowling attack.

Rahane was named as the Player of the Match.
