India v England - 4th ODI - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 satisfied with the result – Cricket News Update
The England captain, Alastair Cook, was satisfied to see rain-interrupted fourth One Day International against India at the Lord’s ending in a tie.
While talking to media reporters after the match, Cook reckoned the tie as a fair result for both the sides.
"We ended up having to bat for the weather and with Duckworth-Lewis ball by ball, it was an extremely tough situation for both the sides. I think it probably was a fair result," said Cook who was happy to see his side clinching an unassailable 2-0 lead in
the five-match series.
The first game of the One-Day series was washed out by rain at Chester-le-Street in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782, while the hosts prevailed in the next two games before rain again spoiled the party for the Indian's, still in search of their first International win on English
soil this summer.
Dhoni however, was irked by the rain in the first and fourth match of the series, saying that both times his side was in a winning position but the weather Gods took it away from them.
"This is not the first time,” said an upset Dhoni. We were close to winning the first game also. But as I said, you can't control the weather."
Rain interrupted thrice during England’s chase at Lord’s on Sunday and every time the situation was different for both sides. At the time when showers forced the umpires to remove the bails for the first time, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 was ahead according to the Duckworth-Lewis
method, while the second time rain interrupted, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 was in a strong position.
The hosts were 270 for 8 when the third and the final rain interruption forced the referees to call the match off. The calculations under Duckworth-Lewis method showed that both the sides were tied at 270 for 8, hence ending the match in a draw.
Alastair Cook hailed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501, for retaining their nerves in the start-stop situation to help England seal the series in their name.
The fifth and the final game of the series will be played at Cardiff on Friday, September 16.
