India v England – Andrew Strauss wants to spoil an Indian party – ICC World Cup 2011
India v England Preview: England skipper, Andrew Strauss, is looking forward to put a halt to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s jubilant World Cup campaign as the side is gearing up to take on the co-hosts in a jam-packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday, 27 February.
"Potentially, it is huge day for us because we need to send out pretty strong signals to other sides on Sunday”, said the English skipper on Saturday. “We are excited and confident about Sunday's game. We will love to spoil an Indian party in Bangalore on Sunday", he added further.
Looking at the recent form of both sides, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side will apparently start as favourites against England tomorrow but the rival skipper reckons the home side would be more under pressure as well.
England’s lead-up to the game is not very impressive, as the side has recently faced a 1-6 One Day International (ODI) series drubbing at the hands of Ashes rivals, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Also, their World Cup campaign in the Subcontinent so far has been sluggish as they survived scares at the hands of minnows in the warm-ups as well as in their World Cup opener in Nagpur against the Netherlands.
The World Twenty20 champions saved their warm-up match against low-ranked http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753, made  the Poms sweat as they took the game to the penultimate over before England won by six wickets.
But Strauss said that the past performances would not affect his team’s performance against the World Cup hot favourites.
"We just need to focus on playing smart cricket”, said the England opener. “We want to play according to our plans and put them under pressure”, he added.
Strauss agreed that it is always difficult to trounce the Men in Blue at home but at the same time he was hopeful of his side’s good track record when it comes to pressure games.
“In big high pressure games we can perform well and this is one of such high pressure games. We are very confident of doing well", said the England captain while talking to the media.
