India v England – Is
India equipped enough to dodge a “Bullet”
The stakes have never been higher for India before as they are now because reaching the number one spot was easy but retaining the prized slot has become a daunting predicament for the Indians, who will now face off with destiny in the upcoming third Test
against the flamboyant England at Birmingham on 10 August, 2011.
After being humiliated by the Poms in the first and second Test, the third Test is going to be a silver bullet for the Indians and they better be equipped to dodge it if they want to retain their first spot in the world of Test cricket.
It will be an embarrassing situation for the team from the subcontinent to be dethroned from its top position within a year after they beat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 to clinch the glorified position late last year.
Nothing seems to be going right for the One Day International (ODI) champions ever since they landed on the English soil. Apart from bad form, the Indian squad has been marred by injuries to main players causing the side to face the English without their
best faces up to full fitness.
The loss of strike bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to take that game away from the English.
While in the second Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham after being in a commanding role, the Indians let the game slip right out of their clutches as England made a remarkable recovery from the point of total annihilation.
The lacklustre performance by the Indian side has left the Indian fans in complete disarray. The situation has caused the fans and critics to point fingers at the once beloved Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, who was bashed in the Indian media for wrongfully
choosing to bowl first in the second Test.
The Indians, who have failed to find a logical explanation to the sudden demise of their national team, are left with no option but to blame the skipper for all the bad that has come during the English tour.
However, Dhoni is without a doubt one of the greatest skippers in modern day cricket and he surely doesn’t deserve such behaviour from the people who once praised him for his great leadership and calm personality.
The fault does not lie within Dhoni, one cannot blame the skipper if his bowlers suffer a breakdown during a match or if his batsmen fail to deliver due to lack of form. Dhoni can still lead his side out of this turmoil provided the rest of the players comprehend
the serious nature of the situation they have plunged into.
India, now need to prove to the world that their rise to the number one spot in Test cricket was not a fluke and they are the deserving team to be reigning at this spot.
India desperately need to take the best available players in their third encounter to win the game because in case of a loss, India will lose the four-match Test series along with their top spot in the longest format of the game.
With the return of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 are currently looking dominant in all departments and to beat them, India will have to give exceptional performance by all means
to stop the English rampage heading towards becoming the top team in Test cricket.
With all eyes on India, the third Test will give fans on both sides plenty to cheer about.
