England finally avenged their One Day International (ODI) whitewash after beating hosts India by six wickets in the only T20 match of their tour on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India.
Before the match, England were at a crucial juncture as they had been humiliated by India in the one-day series and needed to salvage the tour by at least winning in the shortest format of the game in which the English team are the reigning World Champions.

the only T20 match followed by a make a clean sweep in the five-match one-day series.

However, with just one run on the board India lost their first wicket on the fourth delivery of the match when opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566 on nil.

With two wickets down for five runs this was the worst possible start for India as they needed a flying start to put pressure on the opponents early in the innings.

The duo posted 21 runs in the third-wicket partnership before Bresnan struck again to break the partnership before could post a serious danger to the tourists. The bowler grabbed the wicket of Kohli who after smashing 15 runs off 16 deliveries was caught
by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alex-Hales-c985 at deep midwicket. At this point in time, India had managed to post only 26 runs on the board.
Raina then went on to forge another stupendous partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-Tiwary-c1890 as the two batsmen posted 40 runs in together.
Later India managed ended their innings after giving England a target of 121 runs to win the match.
With a reasonable target at hand, England needed steady start as India are always difficult to beat at home and the English batsmen had not been able to have their way with the Indian bowlers throughout the series, which showed that the tourists needed to
be careful in the crusade towards the required target.

runs.
Later, all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 played an outrageous knock of 53 runs to push his side near to victory as England reached the required target in the 18.4 overs.
