India v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 match update – India strikes again as Tillakaratne Dilshan departs: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Final
Match Update: Sri Lanka 140/3 (31.2 ov)
Sri Lanka RR 4.46 Last 5 ovs 29/1 RR 5.80
Earlier:
Sri Lanka were 31 for 1 after the first 10 overs in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final, after Upul Tharanga was dismissed by an out-swinging Zaheer Khan delivery for 2 runs.
Pressure was on Sri Lanka as a capacity crowd in Mumbai pushed the Indian team ahead. After the opener's dismissal, Skipper Kumar Sangakkara walked to the crease to join Tillakaratne Dilshan as the players looked to build a partnership in order to release the pressure. They raised the run rate above 4 for the first time in the innings.
However, the Indian fielding continued to put pressure on the Sri Lankan batsmen, preventing boundaries and limiting the run rate. Sri Lanka responded to the challenge. Sreesanth bowled the 13th over of the match and went for 15 runs with Sangakkara hitting two boundaries and Dilshan edging a boundary off of a free hit on the last delivery.
India, in a bid to cut the run flow, replaced Sreesanth with Harbhajan Singh for the 15th over. The change worked. Harbhajan Singh struck in his second over, claiming the wicket of dangerman Tillakaratne Dilshan.
Playing Sreesanth instead of Ashwin could turn out to be a decision http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 will regret. So far, Sreesanth has bowled two no-balls and ended his 5-over spell, conceding 33 runs with an economy of 6.60 runs per over.
The Sri Lankan captain now has Mahela Jayawardene at his side, with the task of rebuilding and posting a fighting total to challenge India. The Men in Blue are dominating the game at this stage but writing off Sri Lanka would be a mistake just yet. Both Sangakkara and Jayawardene are known to revel under such conditions.
