India v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 irked by drawn 3rd Test – Cricket News Update
The aggressive Indian off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, is http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arthur-Percival-Day-c45927 with his team’s series victory against West Indies, but at the same time, he expressed his frustration that the Caribbean side managed to draw the third Test, played at Windsor Park, Dominica,
from July 6 to July 10, 2011.
With 15 overs left in the final day, India was just 86 runs behind West Indies’ total of 180 when the Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820, decided to finish the affair, reasoning that the series victory was at stake.
The decision was hugely criticised by the cricket pundits as the tourists were in a strong position to go for the run-chase with seven wickets in hand. Harbhajan however, endorsed Dhoni’s decision to call his batsmen back to the pavilion rather than going
for the pursuit but in the meantime, he mourned over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s failure to restrict the Caribbean Kings to a small total in the second innings.
"I took four but could have had six or seven. That's fate," said Harbhajan.
With six wickets in the final Test, the right-arm spinner returned from West Indies with 11 wickets to his credit in the Test series. He also completed his 400 wickets during the series, becoming the third Indian to cross 400-mark in the history of Test
cricket.
Dhoni lauded Harbhajan for his great performance in the pacer-dominated series but the Jalandhar-born spinner feels that he was not given the credit and appreciation that he deserved for his performance on the Caribbean tour.
"It's a strange logic, on one hand you blame our batsmen for thriving on flat sub-continent pitches. Yet, when I take wickets on those very flat pitches, nobody credits me," stated the 31-year-old off-spinner.
Commenting on the secret behind his success, he shared, I tried to bowl this classical loop, flighting it on the off-stump and trying to open up that gap between the bat and pad of a right-hander.”
When questioned about his preparation for the crucial upcoming tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Griffith-c919 challenge, claiming that he will look to take full advantage of conditions at Lord’s where the first Test is scheduled to be
played from July 21 to July 25, 2011.
