India v West Indies 2011: Losing toss worked for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in the first innings says Fidel Edwards – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010, the blazing West Indian pacer, has expressed his disappointment over a not-so-impressive show by his batsmen since the Windies were bowled out by India on a paltry 173 in the first innings of the ongoing Test at Kingston.
Edwards believes that the Caribbean batsmen performed below their weight but at the same time, he admitted that the grassy track didn’t let the hosts to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pile-c82289 up a massive total.
The fast bowler made his way into the side after a gap of more than two years as he played his last Test in 2009 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
Claiming four wickets, Edwards was impressive on the first day of the match but he has not yet been able to steal a wicket so far in the second innings.
The game started as the Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820, won the toss and asked the hosts to ball first.
Recalling the first morning of the encounter, Edwards revealed that he and his teammates were shocked by Dhoni’s decision to bat first. The 29-year-old pacer shared that it was a grassy track at Sabina Park and the Windies were also looking to use the conditions
with the new ball.
"We were a bit surprised they chose to bat on that wicket. Our plan was to field first, take early wickets and it worked out for us anyway," said Edwards.
Although, the bowlers made the most of the seaming conditions and restricted India to a small total of 246, the batsmen failed to capitalise on the situation and gifted their wickets in the first innings.
Responding to the question about his performance in the comeback Test, the right-arm fast bowler explained that even though he was delighted to ball well but the happiness soon faded away as the batsmen could not make an impression in the game.
"It was a good feeling to get back onto the field and contribute to the team`s cause. It was a good start for me and it is good to make my comeback in Jamaica. I have not played a lot of cricket leading up to this match and bowling first up was a bit harsh,
but I got into the rhythm after that," stated the Jamaican speedstar.
At the end of second day, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s score was 91 for the loss of three wickets and the tourists are leading by 164 runs.
Currently, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Richard-Griffith-c41953 target for the hosts to win the game.
