It was widely believed that Praveen Kumar, the Uttar Pradesh-born pacer, would not get a place in the Test format on account of his pace, which according to many, was not enough to disturb batsmen, especially with the old ball.
However, he sealed the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Eric-Claydon-c76394 of his critics by bowling a fantastic spell in his Test debut against West Indies. On the second of the ongoing first Test at Kingston, on June 21, 2011, Kumar returned with impressive figures of 3/38, picking up crucial wickets

With the help of Praveen’s thrilling spell in the afternoon, the tourists restricted the Windies to a paltry 173. After washing out the strong Indian batting line-up on 246 in the first innings, the hosts came out to bat with an aim to post a huge total
on the board and put pressure on the visitors.
However, their party was spoiled by Praveen, who fascinated everyone in the game by his calculated bowling in his first five-day match.
Enormously delighted over starting his Test career on a great note, the 24-year-old medium-pacer described that he did not feel like a debutant in the game as he kept his nerves under control and didn’t allow the pressure to build up.
"It`s the very first time. It has never ever happened to me. Nobody has ever spoken to me (in a match). In a way it`s good that I found this out in my very first Test. To tell the truth, I never felt as if I was playing my first Test. I was quite enjoying
myself and the ball was swinging either way," said Praveen.
Praveen made his One Day International (ODI) debut in 2007 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011, when the fitness issues ruled him out of the World Cup squad.
When asked about the two warnings he was given because of running on the pitch during the first Test, the paceman shared, "I was bowling well and focusing on the batsmen rather than at my follow through. I just didn`t remember I had been warned twice!"
