http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 – 2nd Test – Match Update
India has crossed the 600-run mark against West Indies, courtesy of a mammoth partnership between centurion makers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028. The second Test match is currently being played at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, November 15, 2011.
The resumption of the second day saw Laxman continuing from where he left, showing no mercy to a lacklustre Windies bowling attack. He was joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382.
However, that remained the only high point for the Windies, which failed to pounce on the opportunity and was left stunned by a mammoth seventh wicket partnership between veteran, Laxman and Dhoni.
The 37-year-old then completed his ton with a trademark flick to the mid-wicket region and raising his bat to a surprisingly small crowd. Dhoni on the other end also chanced his arms to great effect, putting the opponents on the back foot right from the word go.
A little delay was caused due to bad light, however, the play resumed soon with the Windies still searching for wickets. Meanwhile Dhoni brought up his half- century in Sammy’s 23rd over of the innings, hitting his counterpart for a massive six before pulling a length ball to mid-wicket for a single.
The tourists by now were going through the motions as field was scattered which allowed the pair to accumulate steady runs. 500 were reached and there seemed no stopping.
Dhoni seemed in a hurry to complete his ton and he showed no respite, clobbering the ball to all parts, while Laxman, in his usual way brought up a composed 150.
Finally the moment came for the Indian skipper, who reached his 5th Test century. It was his first in 32 innings and surely he was ecstatic (in his usual way). Ironically his last ton also came at the same venue back in 2010 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
This allowed Dhoni to cut loose and so he did with a flurry of boundaries, which helped India to cross the 600-run mark, with both still going strong.
