Making an early adjustment at the Kolkata pitch, the Men in Blue opening pair took off with a stable batting stance, earning some fair numbers on the scoreboard, leading the side past the 10 overs mark.

Barath off Edwards’ delivery.
Gambhir managed to add in an impressive contribution to his side’s total, but made his departure after scoring a half century, with batting maestro http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 taking over the opener’s place, in association with Dravid.
The newly formed pair managed to swiftly recoup from the loss, and with Tendulkar look upon to secure his much anticipated 100th century, the pair trailed on to earning some decent numbers for the side’s total – with Dravid earning his 50 runs

Unfortunately for Tendulkar, the maestro suffered another early dismissal, failing earn his much awaited milestone, after producing a sluggish shot, which resulted into an easy catch for Samuels.
The wicket was owned by West Indies’ spin maestro, Devendra Bishoo, who forced the batter to make his exit off the crease after scoring 38 runs, off 71 balls, leaving VVS Laxman to accompany Dravid.
The pair finally trailed on till the closure of the second session, leading India to earn 212 runs for 3, in 57 overs.
