India v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760: 3rd Test – Lunch
India were in a decent position until lunch on day three of the final Test against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, November 24, 2011.
The hosts reached 74 runs for the loss of one wicket, but still trail by 516 runs to West Indies’ score of 590 in the first innings.
Conditions in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 have been excellent for batting and noting much has changed between day one till day three. It will be interesting to see the West Indian spinners bowl, as they might get the ball to turn a bit.
However, there is not much happening for the bowlers overall, which might see the match end in a draw.
There is one thing that can still force the spectators to turn out in big numbers at the stadium and that is the 100th international ton of veteran batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556.
The legendary cricketer might have to wait for some time though, as India have lost just one wicket at the moment.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 was dismissed after scoring a quick knock of 37 runs in just 50 balls. He smashed three fours and one massive six.
The flamboyant right-handed batsman looked all set to score a big one today, but missed out due to some decent bowling by West Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382.
Although Sammy has been criticised for not being a just choice as captain of the team, he still manages to chip away with a few wickets and some runs as well.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 had collected 67 runs for the opening wicket. They batted decently and kept on scoring runs at a nice pace.
However, the team would have liked the pair to remain unbeaten until the end of the first session.
Veteran http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 was the next man to walk out in the middle and he did not take any risks until the session was called off. He scored just one run until then and will look to score some solid runs in the post lunch session.
On the other hand, Gambhir was batting nicely on 30 and will look to make a big one from here onwards.
