India v West Indies – 3rd Test – Match Update
After falling apart following the dismisal of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, November 25, 2011.
Kohli was finally dismissed by leg-spinner, Devendra Bishoo after reaching his first half-century of a short Test career. He was ably supported by Ashwin, who too reached to his fifty with the stand of 97 taking the hosts pass the 400-run mark.
The day started poorly for the home team as they lost veteran batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010, failing to add to his overnight score of 32.
Tendulkar however, stroked the ball nicely dispatching Rampaul for a couple of crisp boundaries before upper cutting Edwards for a six, while consequently making into the nervous nineties. However, the packed crowed was silenced when the Little Master edged
to second slip and departed on 94.
This brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, who cleaned the Indian skipper. This left the hosts in dire straits and a remote possibility of a follow-on loomed.
Those thoughts were put to rest by a commanding partnership by Ashwin and Kohli, where the duo played some aggressive cricket to halt the tourists after they had been in the ascendency.
Ashwin surprisingly looked in considerable ease, hitting the ball on its merit which included a stylish six off Bishoo. With both going neck to neck it was the Indian spinner who reached to his maiden fifty first, taking an easy single off Samuels to reach
to another milestone in his debut series.
Kohli was soon to join, getting to his half-century in the next over. However, his stay after that lasted just 2 runs as he was caught at mid-on after failing to clear Edwards. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566 joined in and safely negotiated his first few balls with the hosts
reaching to 428 for the loss of seven wickets.
With the tourists failing to make quick inroads, the match is destined for a draw.
