http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 cricket captain, Darren Sammy, has termed poor batting performance as the prime reason behind his team’s humiliating four-wicket defeat at the hands of India in the first One Day International (ODI) at Port of Spain on Monday, June 6, 2011.
The Men in Blue notched a comprehensive victory and started the five-match series on a winning note.
After deciding to bat first, the Windies failed to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marlon-Nathaniel-Samuels-c74804 created some hope in the camp by scoring a steady 82-run partnership, the late middle-order seemed to lack skill to tackle India’s calculated bowling.

The dejected West Indian skipper admitted that his batsmen failed to post enough runs on the board.
"We didn't score enough runs, we kept taking wickets but the total wasn't http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Richard-Griffith-c41953 enough to put pressure on them (India). It's about going out there and put a challenging total on the board but we couldn't do that", said Sammy.

Furthermore, Sammy lauded India for their fantastic all-round performance and acknowledged that building partnerships in the middle of the innings was the key difference between the two teams.
The skipper, meanwhile, expressed satisfaction over a decent show by his bowlers and asked batsmen to take more responsibility.
The two teams are now scheduled to meet in the 2nd ODI at the same venue on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
