India versus Australia match underway at Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium: Mid-Match Analysis
India is currently playing against Australia in the seventh contest of the 20th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, being played on the third day at the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium in Malaysian city of Ipoh on Sunday (Today).
In the very first minute, the Australian left-winger took the ball into his hands and made an attack at the Indian defensive circle, which was deflected in the hands of Gurbaj. In the 4th minute of the game, Glenn Tuner attacked the Indian goal,
but the Indian custodian made a crucial save.
Indian player, Chandi, lost the ball's possession in the Australian defence-circle, which was taken by Jason Wilson. However, the Indian goalie cleared the ball comfortably. The Indian side against the offensive game of Australia showed calm and peaceful
game with mature passing.
With nine minutes on the clock, Australia earned their first short-corner, but failed to capitalise the opportunity. Australia constantly attacked the Indian goal-post while the Indians were playing a defensive game.
In the 14th minute of the game, Jacob Whetton managed to take the ball inside the circle and sent a flicking shot at the Indian goal, opening the score, 1-0. Ravi Pal and Gurbaj carried out a counter-offence, but to no avail. Shivendra found a
great chance to level the score in the 19th minute, but could not do so.
India earned their first penalty-corner in the 23th minute after Jonathan Charlesworth committed a foul in the 25-yard line. Rupinder Pal Singh converted the short-corner through a low flicking shot and had it all even at 1-1.
In a counter-attack, Australia earned their second penalty-corner in the 24th minute of the match, but it was blocked by the Indian defender. After a fast game, Australians received another penalty corner in the 29th minute and this
time Brent Dancer failed to past the Indian goalie. Shivendra found another chance, but failed to pas through the Kookaburras goalie in 31st minute.
The remaining period was a fight for the lead, but the intense heat made it tough for the two sides. The first half of play was concluded with a one-all dead-lock, more updates on the way with the second half in the action.
