The two outstanding cricketers decided to call it a day from international sport this year, following India’s miserable performances in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the previous season.
The Men in Blue have outclassed New Zealand at home, winning both the Tests, which was their first series without Dravid and Laxman.
Pujara, the right-handed batsman who took Dravid’s place in the batting-order, impressed one and all after scoring a magnificent hundred in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 Test. The Indian captain however, is of the view that no youngster can take the legends’ places because
they consistently performed for India over the last 15 years in all sorts of conditions.
"As far as missing somebody like Dravid and VVS is concerned, you will always miss them. When Pujara comes and scores a 150 or 160, you still will miss them because of the kind of performances they have given in the past," the Indian captain said.
Dhoni’s men have some very important encounters coming up, including a Test series against England later this year at home, which is a massive opportunity for the Men in Blue to take revenge for their whitewash at the hands of the Poms last year.
The wicketkeeper/batsman believes that it is not fair with the youngsters to compare them with the greats of the game and wants the likes of Pujara and Kohli to establish their own identity, instead of looking to fill someone else’s boots.
Dhoni further added that international cricket is about learning and enhancing one’s skills all the time and warned the youngsters against complacency.
"I feel the boys who are coming in are not replacing anyone. They are coming in with their own character and it was nice to see them perform," the cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jharkhand-c800 added. "It is a continuous learning process and they are shaping up well. It is a
big positive for us."
