http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 won’t be dragged to comply with the DRS - David Richardson - Cricket News Update
David http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625), in his first official statement has said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) won’t be forced to accept the Decision Review System (DRS).
After a recent ICC annual meeting in Kuala Lumpur, DRS was recommended to be made mandatory for all internationals matches by the ICC's cricket committee and by its Chief Executives Committee (CEC), but BCCI which is the lone objector to making the system
a permanent feature in cricket, publicly rejected the proposal while calling it "not good enough" and inaccurate.
An embarrassing situation arose when the CEC had to withdraw its recommendation in the face of the Indian Board’s unambiguous opposition, which drew criticism from the cricket fans, experts and players.
Richardson however, believes that India cannot be dragged to comply with the Board member’s recommendation, even if they are in a clear majority.
"The point is that the BCCI need to make that decision for themselves, it's never good to take anyone kicking and screaming to do anything,” the incumbent chief executive said.
Last year in September, BCCI had also blocked a similar move during the ICC annual general meeting in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hong-Kong-c2919. The rejection
was followed by a strange decision by the governing body, making the use of the system optional based on bilateral series.
The former South African wicketkeeper, who was made the first General Manager of ICC and held that position for 10 years, believes that the system had its inception amidst controversy, and the concerns could only be allayed with time.
"The introduction of technology has always been controversial ... but, slowly but surely, that's changed and I think we're pretty much at that point where everyone is accepting, certainly at international level. I don't think [the
Executive Board's decision is] negative at all. We'll be seeing DRS used in the majority of series going forward and there would be no sense in forcing anything upon anybody," said the new CEO.

Executive office, taking from fellow countryman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haroon-Lorgat-c61719.
