Duncan Fletcher, India’s cricket coach has expressed confidence towards retaining his job even after India have given a poor show since he took charge of the team ahead of India’s tour of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in June 2011.
Speaking to the media regarding his meeting with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, he said, “I’ve had a couple meetings with the BCCI president and they went well.”
Stopping short of giving details of exactly what was said in these meetings, he acknowledged the matter of India’s lacklustre performance overseas under his charge was discussed.
“We’ve had a chat about it [the disappointing overseas tours] and I’ve spoken to a few officials people within the BCCI but we’re not really discussing ihttp://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472 at the moment. I don’t think this is the forum to discuss it,” he said.
Australian batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan, is out to convince national selectors that he deserves a place in the national team.
The left-handed batsman is leading http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and believes that this is a great opportunity for him to show selectors back home that he is the right man to be batting for the national team in the upper-order.
Australia A are scheduled to play against Derbyshire and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 in the two four-day matches.
South African coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757" href="http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757">South Africa are not prepared to take on England, the number-one team in test cricket in the forthcoming Test series.
Reacting sharply to the criticism regarding South Africa’s preparations, he said, “It’s like they’re saying an international cricket team is not prepared heading into a series; what do they want us to do? What is not preparing? Do they want us to be here and play four games against weak county opposition? I don’t understand that.”
South Africa are to face hosts England in the three Test-match series beginning from July 19, followed by a five-match ODI series and three T20Is.
