I saw a dish being made on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares where the chef was putting ground meat (beef or lamb?) on a long metal stick. What is the name of this dish?

  1. Indians usually don't eat beef because cows are considered sacred.

  2. It is called SIKH KEBAB

Really good.  You eat it with Raita and rice.

It is normally made with lamb.

Some indian restaurants make it with beef for western customers who don't like lamb.

They push it off the stick after cooking, then slice it in 1 inch chunks.

  3. Kebabs are made by just about everyone from Morocco in the west to southeast Asia in the east. They have different names -- kebab, shashlik, souvlaki, and so on - but vary only in the details of the marinade. Lamb is the most common and traditional meat, but just about anything can be used.

  4. SEEKH KEBAB:  traditionally made with lamb, but I have made it with ground chicken or even ground turkey

  5. Shish Kebab - what you saw was very likely lamb as Indians rarely eat beef (religious reason). Kebab refers to a variety of meat dishes in Turkey, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, African, and Central Asia. It's actually grilled meats - common kebabs include lamb and beef, although goat, chicken, fish, or even shellfish.

  6. Maybe it was a Kefta kebab? Altough I think that might be middle eastern food.
