Indian Embassy lost my passport at the time of renewal.?

I had sent my passport for renewal and Indian Embassy lost it. It had my I-94 and US visa. They issued a new passport. But the new passport read old passport cancelled and returned. Will this be an issue in future since I never got my old passport back? Do I need to get duplicate I-94 and visa? If yes, how? Can I claim money from them?

  1. Yes it will be an issue.  Ask for a letter of responsibility, though I doubt you will receive one.

You will need to re-apply for a US visa, and you will also need to request a copy of your I-94 through official US channels (You’ll need to file a Form I-102 and pay the USD 320.00 fee see the website below).

It is also highly unlikely that your will be compensated, but you can always ask.
