Indian High Commissioner Reports to the Ministry of External Affair after Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 misses out on reception - Cricket News Update
The much embarrassed Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Naline Surie, recently reported to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after the Indian team, coupled with the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) preferred attending http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028’s
charity dinner over the reception organised by the embassy officials on July 18.
The matter was reported by Surie to the MEA after he was forced into the abandoning the 200 invited guests reception after knowing that skipper MS Dhoni had organised his funds raising charity function the same evening for the M.S. Dhoni Charitable Foundation.
Including the guests, the reception was scheduled to host some notable cricketing and diplomatic personalities.
On the other hand, the Indian players, including the star player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, preferred attending the skipper’s event which ended up aggregating £450000 for the cause. The funds will be going directly towards building a school for deprived children
in an attempt to make them employable.
The noble foundation comes as an initiative from Dhoni and his wife for under privileged children. The function featured a star cast embedded with famous cricket players from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and India alongside some notable Bollywood celebrities.
As for the BCCI, the board’s secretary, N Srinivasan, turned down all allegations against the governing body stating that it was not in his knowledge adding that the timing for the function was rescheduled but according to the rules set out by the BCCI itself,
it is compulsory for the touring Indian squad to accept invitations for all such functions.
However, in response to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srinivasan-c90829’s statements, the report received by the MEA clearly stated that it was BCCI which had suggested July 18 as a suitable date for the Indian side for attending the reception. It was further revealed that Srinivasan personally
spoke to the Indian High Commissioner regarding the scheduling of the event and that the dates were finalised after consultation with the board in order to accommodate Dhoni's event.
The Indian players are now waiting for the High Commission for rescheduling the dates for the reception.
