  1. We got independence in the midnight.  Still now it will not wake up.

  2. Al though, I am Proud to be an INDIAN

But i feel sad as during this period, Muslims and their Muslim Army killed my several relatives including children and ladies. They snatched our all possessions

My relatives, only fault was that they were hindus

Neither of the two so called secular countries ever did justice

although my family had been approaching these governments last 60 years

  3. I feel good to be born in India. I only hope that people become sensible and keep this country as one. I don't think that this country is for settling the scores with minorities and other deprived sections of the society.

If we realize that, India will not take more than 10 years to lead the world. I am waiting in hope to be able to feel proud of being an Indian along with my Muslim and X'an brothers and other deprived sections of the society one day.

  4. I wish for India to enjoy their special day. Many great things and people have come from India.

  5. I am proud to be Indian and I will never ever abuse my country. My Mother India.

  6. Every dog has its day or people of India still do not believe they were devoid of independence earlier or now they need independence, just  to live.

  7. I am Proud to be an INDIAN

  8. A tad late but - proud, baby.

India is messy and chaotic and good and bad and exotic and gleaming and dusty and old and alive and varied and backward and illiterate and powerful and bursting with potential and - possibly every single thing.

But it's mine and damned - if I can't appreciate my own country, how can I expect anyone else to?

I honestly don't care about our glorious history. We seem to be sort of stuck in the rut with the past. We once were great... We were the golden birdcage... We are birthplace of all knowledge, etc etc... Blah.

The ones who aren't stuck in the rut, dying to move forward are the ones too young to effectively make a - governmental sort of - change. Anything else is mostly just PR... And besides, politics is looked upon as such a dirty dirty word.

I am utterly irritated and disappointed.

We're bound by being all good and gracious and listening to the 'elders' however senile they may seem (in politics).

So we wind up looking like clock-work patriotic brainless Indian dolls.

On the other hand, most of the current generation has been 'westernised' and exposed to other cultures too much and - well - it just looks so much prettier, no?

We're too lazy to do anything, too disdainful of politics, too smart for our own good and we can't quite shake the 'Indian' tag off us.

The current India still hasn't quite found it's voice.

It's stuck between the past, confused and the new. And it's democratic. So it has to listen to them all and spend ages debating... Sigh. I'm patiently waiting for a bunch of old fogies to retire or die.

And I'm astounded by the sheer ignorance. Among Indians and about Indians.

I guess it is to be expected, in a country so varied, so vast...

Any other country, bursting with SO many people, so many different cultures.... heh. There isn't one. I'm tempted to go all 'Shantaram'-like here. But I won't. We all know that we're probably the most tolerant bunch of nutcases. Yes, yes, riots minority, all bad - put it into perspective. It's not great, but it sure as h**l isn't bad.

    I've never been patriotic - tsk - d**n - guess the Indian-ness finally seeped in... :)
