Indian London 2012 Olympic Games delegation to be sponsored by Amul
It has recently been revealed that the Indian delegation to the London 2012 Olympic Games will be sponsored by Amul, a company which is managed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd.
The deal that made Amul the sponsor of the Indian delegation for the Olympic Games was finalized today after the secretary-general of the Indian Olympic Association, Randhir Singh, and the Managing Director of the GCMMF, R. S. Sodhi signed the papers.
Sodhi shared his views on the deal in the following manner, “Amul is committed to strengthening the Olympic movement in India and encouraging the young generation from all corners of the country to take up Olympic sports.”
On the other hand, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, who is the acting president of the IOA, commented on the details of the deal between the two partied in the following manner, “Under this agreement Amul, the official sponsor, will provide Rs 1 crore which will be
spent on athletes who have already qualified for the London Olympics. Rupees two lakh each would be given to them. So far, 45 athletes, including 16 hockey players have been selected. In all, 75 persons will go to London as part of the contingent.”
This will not be the first time that Amul associated itself with the world of sports as it has also sponsored other sporting events in the past. Amul has provided its sponsorship for the Cricket World Cup as well as the Formula 1.
However, the London 2012 Olympic Games will be providing Amul with tremendous exposure and an excellent opportunity to market its product.
The total number of nations that will be taking part in the international prestigious sporting event will be more than 200. The giant food products company will be making use of the London 2012 Olympic Games to promote its products that include food items
such as milk, butter, cheese and ghee.
Despite the fact that the London 2012 Olympic Games are scheduled to commence from July 27 and last till August 12, Amul plans to launch its advertising campaign for the Games in a few months time.
