I have got a passport which got expired in dec-2007, & i send the passport to the Indian Consulate, NY through Mail on Jan-8-2008, but till now i dont have any status of my passport. I want to know is my application complete? or is there any thing they require? when i am going to get back my passport? I tried to contact the consulate, first no one picksup the phone, and if you are lucky someone picks up, they speak so rudely, WHATS YOU NAME...? CONTACT NUMBER...? PASSPORT NUMBER......? Ok we will contact you, and hang up the phone. and no one will respond you back....? Even i tried to email the consulate, no one reply that too. Click any one link for email, all enquiry goes at 1 place only, genral suggion box, theres is no email address for the consulate genral, or any of there representative...these people never ever change, wether its america or india....? i am really worried about my passport, any one can help in this matter.

  1. It is still early in the process - you may have to be patient for at least another week.  At that point, you may wish to contact your embassy in Washington, DC.  Explain your situation, including the steps you have taken to try to resolve the problem.

  2. They generally take 2-3 months to process renewals.

  3. Rudeness and intention to ignore is a part of the Indian official system, as it appears. Whether you go for your passport or someone else goes for a VISA. I also had hard time with the Indian consular section. Before coming to western countries, they should be trained about a polite behavior. God bless them indeed.
