Indian Premier League (IPL) fails to increase viewership
The Indian Premier League continues but it fails to attract more viewership, as compared to the previous editions. The rating of this year’s Premier League fell down to a 21.99%, which is on the low side.
The previous editions of IPL have been quite successful ones, as almost every match was jam packed with people watching the game. This year, the sponsors and hosts are also disappointed, as it has not produced fireworks this season. The ratings continue
to fall and create a negative trend for all the sponsors of this season.
During the last ten matches that were being aired, the ratings dropped significantly. This issue is continuing to halt all the sponsors, as they have invested heavily this season. All the experts are of the view that the viewers are not very much familiar
with the introduction of new teams this year.
It is a negative point for the organizers, as they gained quite a lot of success all over the world, when the first IPL was launched. The experts and the commentators were also stunned as some of the games have had low attendance.

Ratings have been at their lowest since three years. The channels that are showing this year’s IPL are also upset with the way ratings have fallen.
Head of brand consulting firm, Brand-Communication, Sridhar Ramanujam, has said that India's ICC World Cup 2011 victory is finally sinking in.
He said that the television audience was directly linked to India's performance in the mega event, as it was evident from the viewership of the ongoing Indian Premier League.
