Indian actress denies any role in match-fixing – Cricket News Update
Bollywood actress, Nupur Mehta, has refuted reports of her involvement in match-fixing activities after claims surfaced that she was playing a pivotal role in luring cricketers into the fixing web.
According to reports in Sunday Times, the high-profile match of last year’s World Cup involving hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 was rigged, with the actress allegedly mediating between players and book makers.
Nupur however, shunned such claims saying that she remains a devoted follower of cricket and has no long lasting connection with any cricketer or bookie. Mehta intended to take legal action against the British Newspaper, which brought the controversy into
the limelight.
The report encircles renowned http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 bookmaker, Viky Seth, who scathingly remarked that the Mohali game between the two Asian Giants was fixed. The police however, failed in their attempts to find any evidence in view of the mentioned game, nor could they
find Seth guilty of any-wrong doing.
"Seth's syndicate is operated very professionally. They are always one step ahead of the administration and they are equipped with latest gadgets and software too," the report added.
Despite no substantial proof, the news has caught the eyes of the cricketing fraternity – mainly due the fact that the reports have been brought forward by the same reporter, who tapped into the spot-fixing scandal of three Pakistani players, after which
they were handed jail terms.
The International Cricket Council said on Sunday that it would investigate the allegations but remained unconvinced over the whole renewed saga.
The newspaper also carried a blurred picture of the actress, but according to Mehta – the picture is from her film Jo Bole So Nihal released in 2005.
"I have been accused of something that I have not done. All I would say is I am not guilty of any such thing. I intend to take action against them (Daily Sunday)," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mehta-c75574.
Along with International cricket, the reports further claimed that match-fixing has become rampant in domestic circuit as well. The alleged bookmakers remain smart in their activities and tend to operate their business from countries where cricket is not
a popular sport.
