  1. If you live in the states then you can start by contacting the tribe that you think that you have affiliations with.

If you don't know what tribe you belong to then, you can start by contacting the Cherokee nation to have them check as they are one of the largest tribal nations.

It would also be helpful if you know what part of the world your family members come from.  It is fairly easy to narrow down tribes if you know what region the person came from.  I am talking about those with Native American Ancestry.

You might also want to go on line to do some research.

Be mindful though. I went to do some tribal searching on my great grandmother, and Grandmother.  My great grandmother who was born in the 1870's or 1880's and was born on a reservation, removed by the government, and had her named changed. From her tribal Native name to Elizabeth. So just be aware of name changes and things of that nature also.

The more information that you have on your family members the easier that it will be for you in the long run.

Good Luck, You will feel really great if you find out that you have Native (First Nations) blood in you.  They are incredibly awesome people, with a rich culture, great history and  a wonderful legacy.

  2. Go on the Maury Povich show and do a DNA test.

  3. You can always go to a UK Birth and Death registry which specializes in genealogy and could provide you with the necessary documents that can come in useful.

  4. My family had to researsch Census Bureau Archives back to 1850, and then petition the tribe for membership.

  5. Take a sample of your p**p and test it's dna

  6. you will need your original birth certificate & your roll number, then just mail them to your tribal head office to recieve your C.D.I.B. card(certified degree of indian blood)
