Indian coach Duncan Fletcher under heavy criticism - Cricket News Update
After a run of poor performances in international cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Duncan-Andrew-Gwynne-Fletcher-c54742, the coach of the Indian team, has started to face immense criticism from a number of former cricketers, who are asking for his removal from the post.
Fletcher took over as the coach of the national team upon http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011. The former South African opener is considered to be one of the most successful coaches of the Indian team, having led the team to the number one ranking in Test cricket as well the World Cup victory.
Under Fletcher however, the performance of the Men in Blue has deteriorated big time, getting beaten in eight consecutive overseas Tests against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, losing the top ranking in Tests, failing to defend their Asian Champions’ title and being thrashed out of the ICC World T20 2012 before the knockout stage.
At the present moment, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and company are having a torrid time in the four-match series against England at home, which is a worrying sign for the Indian cricket fans.
India’s former selector, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dilip-Balwant-Vengsarkar-c54093, has expressed that Fletcher has failed to deliver the goods and he must be replaced now.
"I think he is a big failure. I think he should be sacked straight away," said the former cricketer, who played 116 Tests & 129 ODIs for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Another former cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohinder-Amarnath-Bhardwaj-c77565, has slammed the authorities for being over-obsessed by white skin and feels that the BCCI should look to hire the services of local coaches in future.
"There is a saying in India. If you are fair and white, you are fine. If you are dark, you are good for nothing. I personally don't believe in foreign coaches," Amarnath expressed.
Fletcher on the other hand, defends himself by saying that a coach can only guide the team and performing in the middle is the job of the players.
"I am a great believer that in coaching you offer advice and don't be dictatorial in your approach. I have just come in there will be no changes as far as I am concerned," Fletcher mentioned recently.
