Why prepare chakli,tilgur,karanji?What do they symbolize?

  1. These food items are tied to the festival called Diwali/ Dipavali.

    In the past years, like the period  before independence, there used to be scarcity of the food all over the year, in general. I think the tradition of making these kind of dishes started at that time because this is the only time of the year when they can  come together and celebrate.Also such kind of preparations was not that affordable around the year. So this used to be a kind of party for them.

    Talking about today,  I don't see any reason to symbolize them with the Diwali festival, when you can get these items in the market really easily, and also can prepare them at home whenever you want to.
