Indian greats say no comparison between Dhoni and former captains – Cricket News
Former Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and former Indian captains, insisting instead of enjoy India’s triumph in the recently concluded
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Champions Trophy in England.
“Generations cannot be compared, eras were different so it's not fair to compare. Surely he is one of the best India has had. Results speak for themselves. He took India to number one in Tests, won 2011 World Cup, T20 World Cup
in 2007 and now the Champions Trophy. We should be rejoicing,” Gavaskar said in an interview.
The former batsman said that Dhoni has been able to get the best out of the players since taking charge.
Gavaskar felt that the current Indian team’s hunger to win every match was the major factor in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s success. While he believed that most of the players in the team would go on to play the 2015 World Cup, he urged the Board of
Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send India’s A team to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 to give the players a feel of the climate over there before the world cup.
Meanwhile, former batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajaysinhji-Daulatsinhji-Jadeja-c42450 was of the opinion that it was a perfect move to appoint Dhoni as the Indian captain even when there were a number of senior players in the national team.
“When Pataudi took over India were trying to play and do something different. Somebody in the system thought that Dhoni was the right choice when there were a lot more experienced players. He has worked with different kind of players,
teams which had no experience,” Jadeja said.
India’s former coach Anshuman Gaekwad commended Dhoni for taking risks on the field which makes him an unpredictable captain. According to the former coach, Dhoni’s risky decision making has rewarded him with success which also
makes him a leader of his own league.
After beating England in the ICC Champions Trophy over the weekend, Dhoni has become the only captain in the history of the game to win Twenty20 World Cup, the 50-over World Cup and the Champions Trophy.
