Michael Nobbs, the newly appointed Australian coach of the Indian national hockey team, will start his coaching duties to the Indian team for the next five years looked confident for a better performance from his side in the forth coming inaugural edition
of the Asian Champions Trophy which is going to be played in Ordos, China from September 3.
Top Asian teams like South Korea, India and the Asian Games Champions, Pakistan along with Malaysia and the hosts, China will be among the contestants for the inaugural title.
Michael Nobbs, the 57-year-old veteran who represented Australia at Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, told that he is eying to bring back the glorious reign of the Indian hockey as he is quite confident that the eight time Olympic Champions and single time World
Champions still have the required energy and talent that repossess their lost glory.
“If we do well, it will mean we are on the right track. If the team does really badly, we will know how much more needs to be done,” Nobbs further added to his comments regarding his team’s most recent assignment at the Asian Champions Trophy this September
in China.
“Every team, without exception, has its good and bad phases. My job is to make sure the bad phase of Indian hockey is replaced by the good phase,” Nobbs stated his views at the national team’s training camp in Bangalore.
India’s very first test under the coaching of Michael Nobbs will be in the Asian Champions Trophy which is going to be held in Ordos, China from September 3
and will be concluded on September 11 where top six finishers in the Asian Games that was held in Guangzhou, China, will compete against each other for the title. These include the Asian Games gold-medallist Pakistan, silver-medallist Malaysia, bronze-medallist
India, South Korea, Japan and China.
