Would like to know which is a better Insurance cover to take for students, while travelling for studies abroad. The Student Insurance in India provide various covers which the US plans dont provide, and the USA Student Medical Insurance plans have coverages which are University Compliant. How do we resolve this.

  2. You would be better off taking out medical insurance in the U.S. unless your insurance in India will cover the expenses of overseas medical treatment, that is something you will have to contact them about.

Either way, a years student coverage in the U.S in about $1,200 which is very reasonable. For a while when I was a student, I was with AIG international, it probably cost me around $600 per year and this included: medical, auto, life and accident and sickness insurance. They also helped with relocation advise and support such as help with renting furniture, U.S. drivers license application assistance and hotel discounts.

    AIG internationals' link is below.

  3. Initially you may have Student Insurance from one of the Indian companies. But latter, it is be advisable to have Insurance in USA, since you will be living there and for any bad consequences they are very help full than Indian Company having offices far away.
