Indian skipper praises the top order - Cricket News Update
Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
Opting to bat first, the tourists put on a commendable 298 on the board, courtesy of half centuries from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426.
However, the hosts replied in fine fashion with opening paring of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, put in another crucial stand of 111, building a solid
platform for the lower-middle order.
"I think it was a very good performance. The middle-order did not bat so well but the upper middle order did the job for us. The openers batted really well. Ajinkya Rahane and Gautam Gambhir set the platform with their partnership," said Dhoni after the
match.
"The way Rahane batted along with Gambhir in the middle after the start was crucial. We lost wickets at the wrong time though, and we had to get another partnership going. They batted really well," the skipper added.
However, it needed another cameo from the skipper to guide the team to the finishing line, with him striking two boundaries of the final over to ensure that his side went 3-0 up in the series, with still two matches to play. The skipper, who made an unbeaten
35 off 31, also added that the positivity with which his side is playing made them confident in their ability to chase down any total, which their opponents put on the board.
He, however, was disappointment with the bowlers, by also adding that they gave away too many boundaries, despite having a good start with the ball.  Dhoni hopes that the team will improve on bowling in the remaining matches.
The series victory is certainly a sweet revenge for the side, after being powerless on tour of England, however, the Men In Blue skipper, shunned any notion of revenge and was simply happy to get back to winning ways.
Both teams will now play in the fourth ODI on 23rd of October in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820.
