Indian snack question?

My friend Punam made me a snack her mom sent to her from India, it looked like multi colored, different shaped pasta, then she fried them in oil in a pan and they puffed up and got big. She spiced them with cayenne and other spices. I really liked them, but she doesn't know where to get them or what they're called. Anyone have a clue as to what this snack is called?

  1. Hi, I think what your talking about is "Gol Gappe ki Poori". However I'm not too sure. Sorry could not be of much help.

  2. You may be looking for some "Sago" preparations. These are sundried different shapes and fried in oil. Indian grocery stores stock them with items those can be fried like papad/papadam. In Hindi Sago is called as "Sabudana".  These in other Indian languages are known as sabudana vadi /sandigge.....

  3. We call those "Fhar Fhar" and they can be found in any indian grocery store. They come in a small bag and are cut into small squares and super easy to make. Just fry them up in hot oil and you have a yummy treat!
