Indian spin threat against Pakistan – Opinion
Alas there was a big hurrah in Pakistan after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the resumption of bilateral ties, suspended since 2009 when India chose to cut-off cricket relations with its neighbour over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 terror attacks.
While the people of both countries are anticipating a nail biting competition between the two teams, things in the Pakistan camp look a bit over prepared as things that are, perhaps, not going to affect Pakistan the way they are expected to.
For instance, Pakistan is giving too much hype to the Indian spin attack, whereas history has shown that Pakistan have never been troubled by India’s spinners to an extent that would cost them a series or a match.
Moreover, even the current Indian side knows that they have to rely on their pacers to win them matches.
The Pakistani camp is either ill-informed or they haven’t done their research to figure out that India, at the moment, have some outstanding pacers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379, who will wreak havoc upon Pakistan once they get going.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 is an aging veteran, who has had a series of bad performances under his belt and would not be much of a challenge against Pakistan.
There is no doubt that unlike the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, where spinning tracks were made to trouble the English, for Pakistan however, India will prepare fast pitches to aid their bowlers.
Let us not forget that Pakistan are bad players of short pitched deliveries, where nine out of ten times, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 batsmen are sucked into going after the ball, which results in their demise.
This is one rule the Indians will not be forgetting once they take the field against the Men in Green.
Pakistan needs to focus on ways to neutralize India’s pace attack because once the likes of Sharma and co are taken out of the action, the spinners can be dominated by the batsmen.
Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, knows this and would be looking to go against Pakistan with a pace attack.
Pakistan are, however, relying just too much on spinner Saeed Ajmal to deliver the goods against a team which has, by far, the best players of spin. Putting the burden of rattling India on Ajmal’s shoulders is unfair, the responsibilities should be distributed
equally, the pacers need to know that they are not going to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to stand in front of the Taj Mahal.
Having said that, let us all hope for a befitting competition between Asia’s biggest rivals in the two T20s and three ODI series that will begin from the 25th of this month.
