Indian team lacks hunger, believes Michael Slater – Cricket News Update
Former Australian opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Jonathon-Slater-c76070, has slammed the Indian cricket team for the lack of hunger to succeed as a team, saying that most of the Indian players look content since they have achieved great recognition for their individual performances.
India is currently touring Australia and has already lost the initial two Test matches of the series. This series was supposed to be India's chance to regain its lost pride that was ripped off by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in the previous Test series.
Most cricket pundits around the world are of the view that the Indian Premier League is the root distraction for most Indian players, since they are more inclined towards proving their franchises instead of their national team.
Slater concords with this view sayng that the players are not working as a unit which is absolutely crucial at the highest stage of the game, where there is no room for selfish play. Former opener feels that a team should feel badly hurt after comprehensive
losses in Test cricket but the Indian team does not seem to be regretful.
Former cricketer said, "India's cricketers are so well-rewarded for their individual success, that it numbs the pain they should be feeling when they fail as a team. The two Test match losses they have experienced so far on this tour of Australia don't appear
to have hurt them as much as they should have.”
Slater went on to say that if http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 would have been in this mess, they would have tried their level best to reclaim their glory, and this hunger seems to be missing among the Indian players.
“I know that an Australia team that was two Tests down on a tour would be hurting and prepared to do anything to turn things around. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has never won a series in Australia, and yet they have turned up once again without enough time to properly prepare,”
Slater added.
The third Test of the series starts tomorrow at Perth.
