  1. With one on the way your only option is a group policy through an employer or Medicaid. No individual health insurance company will accept anyone pregnant, nor will they accept anyone in the family pregnant.

    After the baby is born visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can find the best plan for your situation and budget and can explain what is covered and, more importantly, what is not covered with any plan.

    You can purchase a budget plan with a lower premium and few benefits, a comprehensive plan with a higher premium and lots of benefits, or something in between. The agent will be able to explain this to you.


  2. Yes, if you are pregnant, then no reputable insurance company will insure you until you have had your child.  They will insure your children, but not you.

    The reason for this is that pregnancy is a pre-existing condition of sorts and most policies cover complications due to pregnancy if they don't cover the maternity itself.
