Indiana Law - Is strangulation separate from battery or is it classified the same?

Young man, 19, fights with brother 14. Gets two class d felony charges, battery & strangulation. Prosecutor changes battery to misdemeanor since younger boy is not under 14. Should the strangulation charge be changed also?
