Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger: Top eight game in the 2010-11 season – NBA Special (Part 2)
Indiana Pacers 108 – Cleveland Cavaliers 99
Danny Granger snapped his poor form and led the Indiana Pacers to a 108-99 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on 17 December, 2010, at the Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis.
"I went through a stretch when I wasn't being very aggressive or assertive offensively," Granger said. "I made a point to just go out and try to be an assassin. That philosophy works better for me. Other games I've been coasting."
Granger scored 30 points and 12 rebounds to reach another double-doubles of his career. He pulled through his bad patch in style, as he made 12 of 22 shots from the field and hit four three-pointers against the Cavaliers.
Indiana Pacers 94 – New Orleans Hornets 93
Granger marshalled the Pacers to a 94-93 win over the New Orleans Hornets on 20 December, 2010 at the Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis. During the game Granger scored 27 points, grabbed six rebounds, provided two assists and one
block. He drew a lot of attention of the rival team, which enabled Mike Dunleavy to hit a buzzer beater that took the game away from the Hornets.
Indiana Pacers 111 – Philadelphia 76cers 103
Granger and Darren Collison together pulled the Pacers out of a tail spin, as they took the Philadelphia 76cers down in a 111-103 victory on 11 January, 2011 at the Wells Fargo Centre, Philadelphia. This was Indiana’s first victory
on road, after 30 November, 2010. Granger led the pack with 27 points, five boards and seven assists, while his teammate Collison had 21 points and 13 assists.
After the game Granger said, "It was a breath of fresh air for us, particularly on the road. We shot the ball well and moved the ball well. It was a great win for us."
Indiana Pacers 103 – Milwaukee Bucks 97
The new approach towards the game made the Pacers look good, as they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 103-97 on 12 February, 2011 at the Bradley Centre, Milwaukee. Granger led the Pacers with 30 points, four rebounds, two assists,
one steal and one block.
After the game Granger praised Pacers coach Frank Vogel's new emphasis –
The turning point of the game came in the final quarter, when the Pacers quickly raced to a 91-78 advantage, as Granger helped them rattled the Bucks with a brisk 14-0 blitz, with just 3:56 to go and swung the pendulum in Indiana’s
favour.
"Honestly, I just think we started playing toward our strengths. Whereas before, we kind of just tried to mold everybody into the system that we had. Now, we play inside-out. We've got a really quick point guard, so we play up-tempo.
We space people out because we have a lot of good shooters. We're just playing to the strengths that we have with this team."
Indiana Pacers 111 – Charlotte Bobcats 88
Granger didn’t let his coach down and led the Pacers to 111-88 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on 23 March, 2011 at the Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte.
Prior to the game Pacers coach Frank Vogel gave a strong statement that they will eliminate the Bobcats from the playoffs contention by defeating them in this game and after three hours the Pacers exactly did that.
Grangers chipped in with 33 points, clutched five rebounds, provided three assists, steal two and blocked one shot. Indiana overcame a 12-point, second quarter deficit with Granger’s 25 point burst and converted the trail into
a rout.
