Indiana Pacers rally in the fourth to stun the New York Knicks 112-104 – NBA Recap
On Tuesday night, the Indiana Pacers made an amazing comeback in the 4th quarter to defeat the New York Knicks 112-104 here at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Danny Granger led the Pacers with 27 points, out of which 14 came in the 4th quarter as Indiana outscored the Knicks 40-17 in the final 12 minutes of the game. Carmelo Anthony scored a season high 39 points and grabbed
10 rebounds for the Knicks.
The 1st quarter was toughly contested as the largest lead by any team in the quarter was 5. Steve Novak made a buzzer beating 3 pointer late in the 1st quarter to tie the score 31-31 for New York. Novak had
a good cameo appearance in the game, playing for 12.5 minutes and scoring 9 points on 3 of 4 from the 3-point range.
New York finished the 1st half on an 11-2 run to take the lead 59-51 at halftime. They further extended this lead to 13 with 6:07 to go in the 3rd quarter when Baron Davis was fouled on a layup and made the
3-point play count. On the next possession, David West was brought down hard by Iman Shumpert while attempting a layup off a fast break offense by the Pacers. He managed to get the basket and Shumpert was handed a flagrant 1 foul.
The Knicks, however, ran away from the Pacers reach late in the 3rd quarter and ended the quarter with an 87-72 lead.
Indiana stormed into the 4th quarter and ripped off a 19-4 run to tie the game at 91 apiece with 6:38 still remaining in the game. Paul George then scored 7 straight points, including 5 free throws, as the Pacers led
101-93. Anthony brought the Knicks back in the game with a 3 point shot to make it 101-103, but Tyson Chandler missed a free throw and Anthony missed a 3 pointer with under a minute to go in the game to seal the fate for the Knicks.
J.R Smith’s inbound pass was stolen in the final seconds of the match and Smith threw Leandro Barbosa to the ground while chasing Paul George down the court. He was gives a flagrant type 2 foul and ejected from the match.

good bench support with 12 points each.
Carmelo Anthony scored 39 points and Tyson Chandler added 12 point and 14 boards for the Knicks. But in the absence of Jeremy Lin, the Knicks seemed to be missing a solid point guard. Baron Davis and Iman Shumpert started as guards
but could only manage 11 points between them at a combined field goal percentage of 28.5%. J.R Smith came off the bench to score 11 points and grab 9 rebounds for the Knicks. He might get a start next game as a guard.
New York is battling for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and injury to star players Jeremy Lin and Amare Stoudemire has cost them heavily. At the moment, their win-loss record is 27-27; one win clear of the Milwaukee
Bucks.
