Indiana Pacers thrash 124-92 against the New Jersey Nets
The first game of Friday was hosted by Indiana Pacers as they were against the New Jersey Nets at the Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, IN.
Indiana Pacers are just one place adrift of the last play-off position but they lost it due to losing 5 consecutive games before the start of this match. The New Jersey Nets aren’t having the best of times either as they are second to bottom in the Eastern
Conference. Indiana Pacers were definitely the stronger team and they showed this with some excellent play and in the end emerging as winners of the match. New Jersey Nets inconsistency continues as they lose this game after a win.
Both teams made a decent start to the match as they came up with shots right from the start and the passing was brilliant. New Jersey Nets weren’t able to keep up pace with the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers were definitely showing their pace with some fast
break.
However, this slips up in shooting and the final touches resulted in them not scoring as much as they deserved. During the quarter, New Jersey Nets weren’t able to keep up with the Pacers but as the quarter neared its end they started to come up with good
and successful shots. The quarter ended with Indiana Pacers leading 32-27.
The second quarter was no different from the first one. Though there was a slow start to the match but after a few minutes the players got back into the tempo and the game progressed smoothly with the same pace.
New Jersey Nets came up with the early scares as they bagged a few points. Indiana Pacers were able to respond to this with strong plays and decent shooting. The shots were from everywhere on court whether it was the free throw line, three pointer line or
field shooting and most of the time they were successfully made.
The quarter saw the Indiana Pacers restricting the New Jersey Nets to 27 points in the quarter as they scored 36 points which meant that they led 68-54 at the halftime.
The game was being played in one flow and the third quarter was part of it. New Jersey Nets went on the attack early this time with some strong offensive play. However, this didn’t work as Indiana Pacers were able to once again counter this with a few attacks.
After these attacks New Jersey Nets went permanently on the back foot. With the passage of time Indiana Pacers were once again on top. Though the New Jersey Nets tried hard to make a comeback and tried hard but unfortunately they couldn’t managed to do so.
The quarter ended with Indiana Pacers extending their lead to 104-78.
The final quarter saw Indiana Pacers make a few changes which wasn’t able to perform the way that the Pacers had in the three quarter previous. However, New Jersey Nets still couldn’t manage to come up with something extravagant and lost the game 124-92
in the end with Pacers scoring 20 points in the final quarter while New Jersey Nets were restricted to just 14 goal attempts.
Mike Dunleav of Indiana Pacers was the top scorer of the match with 30 points and was closely followed by Brook Lopez of Nets scoring 28 points.
