Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck admits difficulties in leaving headquarters for coursework - NFL News
Indianapolis Colts’ rookie quarterback, Andrew Luck, admitted it is difficult for him to leave the team after just attending the minicamp for a few days to finish his remaining courses at Stanford.
According to National Football League (NFL) rules, no rookie player can participate in a professional team's activities until he completes his semester from the college/university he hails from.
The only exception is that the player can attend the minicamp of his new team, and Luck capitalised well on this opportunity, making himself available to his new teammates for Colts’ workout last weekend.
Soon after the camp, he must head back to Stanford to finish his remaining courses.
The departure has become very difficult for him after spending some time with his new teammates.
Luck cannot enter Colts’ headquarters until June 07, 2012, the deadline for him to pass the courses.
He conceded:
"It is tough. I think it is very tough."
He added:
"We are going to have to find ways, legally, or to work around the rules, to get work in with the guys and start building those relationships with the veterans who can't be here at this minicamp. As a rookie quarterback, I wish it would be easier to get
out here and to do this stuff, but it is the way it is. Everybody has got to do it."
All the developments so far reflect that Luck has already immersed into Colts’ environment and developed affection for the local community, and they too seemed to have reciprocated in the same spirits.
It should come as good news for Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, as fans’ support and love is going to help build a strong long-term relationship between the player and Colts’ community.
The league rules allow him to stay in touch with the team, and he can also workout with his teammates outside the team’s facility.
Meanwhile, Colts’ manager, Ryan Grigson offered to help Luck in his studies over the next four weeks.
