Indianapolis Colts O-line hit with injuries just before Houston Texans game – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts have to make some urgent changes to their offensive line just before travelling to Houston to face the Texans in a must-win game this Sunday (Dec. 16) because of a number of injury scares.
As per update of the team late Friday, they will be without two offensive linemen and a couple of players at other offensive positions because of respective injury scares and will have to swap these positions with the players from other spots to cover for
the injured ones.
According to coach Bruce Arians, right tackle Winston Justice is staying home with torn biceps and so is centre Samson Satele (ankle injury).
Arians added that they were thinking of placing centre A.Q. Shipley to start at centre Satele’s position and Jeff Linkenbach at Justice’s position.
The coach further said that running back Delone Carter will be out of the squad this Sunday. He said the RB has injured his ankle and is unlikely to be available for the weekend game, giving another blow to the depleted offensive line of the team just before
an important game.
Meanwhile, the team also said to be uncertain about linebacker Kavell Conner who pulled a hamstring in their previous game and is still unfit to play. Another player uncertain for this Sunday is safety Tom Zbikowski with a knee injury.
Although the coach said they would cover up for the injured players with players from other positions, it nevertheless is a serious blow to the Colts just before an important game. They are just a game away to win a playoff berth and so many injuries do
not bode well with their victory chances.
The depleted offensive line should particularly be a worry for them because the Texans are one of the strongest defensive lines in the league studded with stars like J.J. Watt.
It will also add pressure on rookie quarterback and offence leader Andrew Luck, who is already taking extra load on the line. Given the Texans have sounded their intention to mark Luck more than any other player in the Colts, he needs more help from the
backup positions. It is to be seen how the Colts will cope with the situation on the weekend.
