Indianapolis Colts Peyton Manning tops Miami Dolphins QBs wish list if available – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts injured quarterback, Peyton Manning, is reported to have topped the Miami Dolphins QB wish list provided the player is made available.
The Dolphins, by a virtue of reports in some sections of media have become the second team, after the New York Jets, to have spoken of their interest in the QB, who missed out the entire 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season due to a neck injury.
Local press in Miami have quoted a couple of people with knowledge of the developments at the Dolphins as saying that the team would be keen on pursuing Peyton Manning for their quarterback position if the player is made available by his team.
The New York Jets had earlier spoken of similar hopes. There is no confirmation either from the player or his team what will be his future.
Manning did not play a single game or practice since having a neck surgery in September 2011, and none of the two parties are sure if he is coming next season.
The Colts had left the player on their active roster throughout the past season, and with all of their previous management and coaching staff now fired, the team is yet to come up with their plans on the QB’s future.
The Colts owner, Jim Irsay, said a couple of weeks ago that he planned to meet Manning within in a week to discuss a possible future course. Without no knowledge if the meeting has already taken place, both, the New York Jets and now Miami Dolphins, have
expressed their respective interest to pursue the QB’s signing off a free agent or otherwise.
Peyton Manning is due an amount of $28 million in bonus from the Colts by March 08, 2012. The team management is yet to confirm if they are going to make the payment or will seek to negotiate an extension.
If he is paid the bonus without any negotiations, some reports have hinted that the Colts management is most likely to let him go free agent. They are expected to pursue their top draft pick prize as their future QB the way they had done with Manning about
13 years ago.
Manning who has been a four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) will definitely have many teams on his back if he is let be free agent by the Colts. The player is not hinted at the possibility of pursuing prospects elsewhere.
The possibility of him preferring another side over the Colts has been making headlines since finishing of the 2011 NFL regular season.
Jim Irsay had denied all those reports earlier, saying if Peyton Manning returns to play football another season it will be at the Indianapolis Colts.
The owner has not resisted any of the latest statements of Manning’s bearing potential of playing for another side next year.
